Misia was born Misaki Ito on July 7, 1978, in Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka, Kyūshū, to parents who were both doctors. Her father loved jazz, and mother loved Western music. Originally both her parents studied vocal music. She is the youngest of three children, with an older brother and sister.
